The disbursement of public investment from the State budget in the first five months of this year was estimated at VND190.6 trillion ($7.48 billion), equivalent to 26.6% of the annual target and 5% higher than the same period last year, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).
Of which, the Ministry of Transport (MoT) disbursed VND20.5 trillion ($805 million), achieving 34% of the annual target.
The ministry was allocated over VND59.23 trillion ($2.32 billion) of public investment capital this year.
In May, the MoT kicked off construction of three projects, including the Chu Market - Trung Son Junction road – the last section of the Ho Chi Minh Highway which connects northern Cao Bang province that borders China with the southernmost Ca Mau province in the Mekong Delta.
The ministry has completed four projects, including two sub-projects of the North-South Expressway, raising the total length of expressways in operation nationwide to over 2,000 km.
