Total retail sales of consumer goods and services in the first seven months of the year were estimated at over VND3.62 quadrillion ($142 billion), up 8.7% year-on-year, the General Statistics Office of Vietnam (GSO) has reported.
The total retail sales of goods stood at over VND2.8 quadrillion ($110 billion), surging 7.4% year-on-year and accounting for 77.3% of the total sales of goods and services.
In July, the total retail sales of consumer goods and services reached VND528.3 trillion ($20.7 billion), soaring 9.4% compared to the same period last year.
Localities posting increases in the retail sales of goods in Jan-July included northern Quang Ninh province, with 10.2%, central Da Nang city 7.8%, the Mekong Delta’s Can Tho city 7.6%, Hanoi 6.6% and Ho Chi Minh City 6.3%.
Revenue from accommodation and catering services reached VND419.2 trillion ($16.47 billion), up 15.2% year-on-year, while tourism and travel services earned VND35.2 trillion ($1.38 billion), rising 31.8%.
