The Project Management Board overseeing the transportation sector in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province announced that significant progress has been made in the preparatory phases of the connecting road project, spanning across Vung Tau City, Long Dien District, and Ba Ria City. The project is slated to kick off in October of this year.

The connecting road will extend over a total distance of 16.5 kilometers and will be divided into three distinct component projects. Presently, two of these projects have finalized surveying and are in the preparatory stages for land clearance compensation. Meanwhile, the investment policy for the third project received approval from the provincial People's Council on February 29.

The initial component entails constructing a 6.71-kilometer road from National Highway 56 in Ba Ria City to the Vung Van roundabout in Long Dien District. This segment comprises both an urban expressway and parallel roads.

With an approved investment of VND 6.7 trillion ($271 million), primarily sourced from the provincial budget, this project will receive allocations from the midterm public investment fund spanning from 2021 to 2025, with additional funding to follow post-2025.

The subsequent component will link the Vung Van roundabout to the Vung Tau - Binh Thuan coastal road in Vung Tau City, extending over 6.8 kilometers. Similar to the first project, it includes both an urban expressway and parallel roads.

With an investment of nearly VND 5.2 trillion ($210.3 million), sourced partially from the provincial budget, disbursements for these projects are scheduled from 2023 to 2027.

Lastly, the third project will cover a length of approximately 2.87 kilometers, this route will integrate with the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway and terminate at the intersection with September 2nd road.

Anticipated to be completed between 2024 and 2028, the total investment for this segment amounts to nearly VND 2 trillion ($80.9 million).

The connecting road project is slated to commence construction in October 2024, with an anticipated operational launch by December 2026.
