Vietnamese airlines plan to conduct 4,257 flights from August 30 to September 3 to meet increasing travel demand on the occasion of the National Day holidays (September 2), up 3.5% year-on-year, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam.
The figure is equivalent to an average of 840 flights per day, including 600 flights on domestic routes and 240 flights on international routes.
The number of seats for domestic routes during the period is estimated at over 600,000, surging 5% compared to the week before the holidays and 1.5% year-on-year.
The national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines has announced that it will conduct 2,500 flights for both domestic and international routes during the period with 500,000 seats.
Air fares are forecast to soar 20% during the holidays compared to normal days.
