The number of night flights will be doubled to meet rising travel demand before, during, and after the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV).
The number of night flights between 10pm and 4am will rise to 204 during the peak travel time of the upcoming holiday period.
Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport alone will see an additional 90 night flights during the period.
Airlines plan to operate night flights to 12 local destinations from January 6 to February 5, or the 15th day of the last lunar month to the 15th day of the first lunar month.
The CAAV has asked Vietnamese airlines to allocate resources for extra night flights to ease congestion at airports during daytime hours.
