The Australia-Vietnam Strategic Technologies Center (AVSTC) was officially launched in Hanoi on June 11.

Located in the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT), the AVSTC is an exciting new initiative to drive 5G/6G research, cybersecurity and digital transformation, bringing together the brightest minds from academia, industry, and government to tackle challenges and seize opportunities of the digital future.

Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade provided initial funding of AUD2.1 million ($1.37 million) to establish the center, while global telecommunications company Nokia supplied the technical equipment needed to support its operations.

At the launching ceremony, Australia’s Ambassador to Vietnam H.E. Gillian Bird noted that Australia is proud to be partnering with Vietnam to drive innovation and digital transformation, which are key to Vietnam’s economic growth.

“This is a practical demonstration of Australia’s commitment to supporting science and innovation under our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership,”  H.E. Gillian Bird emphasized.

Moreover, by fostering research and partnerships on strategic technologies, and by connecting Vietnamese institutions with Australia’s top education and innovation networks, Australia aims to support Vietnam in achieving the goals of Resolution No. 57 in a tangible and measurable way.

The center also marks a significant milestone in Vietnam and Australia's shared journey towards a digitally connected and secure future and reflects the deep and ongoing commitment between the two countries as part of the Vietnam - Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

The groundbreaking partnership between the Australian and Vietnamese Governments has been established through a collaboration between Vietnam’s Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT) and Australia's University of Technology Sydney (UTS).
