Aviation security to be tightened during upcoming Tet holiday

The number of passengers traveling through airports during the 2025 Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday expected to reach 10.5 million compared to 10 million during the same period last year.

Accordingly, all passengers, cargo, and mail will be screened before entering the restricted areas. Security staff will randomly check 7 per cent of passengers and baggage during the period.

The number of on-duty personnel will be increased by 20 per cent during the peak time except for the last day of the old lunar year and the first day of the new lunar year, which will fall on January 28 and January 29, 2025, respectively.

The number of passengers traveling through airports during the 2025 Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday is expected to reach 10.5 million compared to 10 million recorded during the same period last year.

With the holiday spanning nine days, passenger numbers are projected to surge during this peak period. Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City alone is projected to serve over 4 million passengers during the holiday.

In the first ten months of 2024, airport security forces detected 223 violations of aviation security, including illegal transportation of weapons, controlled substances and drugs, theft at airports, false bomb threats and improper use of identification for boarding.
