Bac Giang plans 165,000 tons of lychees for export in 2024

Northern Bac Giang province plans to grow lychees on an area of 29,700 ha in 2024, with an estimated output of 165,000 tons for export.

The province has mostly exported its lychees to China, which accounted for 98 per cent of total export volumes. Other markets have included the US, Japan, South Korea, Australia, the EU, Thailand, the UAE, Qatar, and elsewhere in the Middle East and Southeast Asia.

Regarding China, the province has 16,217.4 ha that is qualified for export to the country, with a total output of 102,700 tons.

The province also focuses on cultivating areas of lychees for export to meet export requirements in other markets such as the US, Australia, Japan, and the EU. The total cultivation area for exports to the US is 215.9 ha, with an output of 2,000 tons, to Australia 253.7 ha with 2,300 tons, to Thailand 221.5 ha with 1,500 tons, and to Japan 312.92 ha with 3,000 tons.

The province also continues to expand its cultivation area to export to New Zealand, Canada, and Singapore.
