Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha has approved planning for the Hiep Hoa urban area in northern Bac Giang province by 2045.

The planning area covers nearly 20,600 ha.

There will be an estimated population of 300,000 by 2030 and 400,000 by 2040.

The Hiep Hoa urban area will be developed into a green and smart commune by 2030 to ensure sustainable development.

Planning is aimed at cementing directions in national development strategies and planning for Bac Giang province in the 2021-2030 period with a vision to 2050, which have been approved by the Prime Minister.

Hiep Hoa is considered the administrative, political, and economic center of the western reaches of Bac Giang province as well as an economic growth driver. It is also a new industrial development center in the Hanoi Capital Region and Bac Giang.

The urban area is also envisioned as becoming one of the province’s logistics development centers and an area of high-quality agricultural products, high technology, and commercial and tourism services.
