Northern Bac Ninh province saw 2,417 newly-registered enterprises in the first eight months of 2023, up nearly 34 per cent year-on-year, the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) has reported.
The enterprises had total capital of over VND22.8 trillion ($952 million), a rise of 61.63 per cent as compared to the same period of 2022, VOV reported in quoting figures from the provincial Department of Planning and Investment.
There are now 21,415 enterprises in Bac Ninh, with charter capital totaling more than VND372.5 trillion ($15.5 billion). Of these, 17,722 enterprises are in operation, 1,573 have registered to temporarily suspend operations, and 2,120 no longer operate at their registered address.
The province’s industrial production is reported to be continuing its recovery, with the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) for three industrial sectors improving for the sixth month in succession: manufacturing and processing (8.29 per cent); the production and distribution of electricity, gas, hot water, steam, and air-conditioners (1.23 per cent); and water supply and wastewater management and treatment activities (0.47 per cent).
