The northern port city of Hai Phong is currently a focus for Belgian investors, Ambassador of Belgium to Vietnam, H.E. Karl Van den Bossche, told a working session with city authorities on March 14. Half of all investment from Belgian businesses in Vietnam has gone to the city, he said.

One prominent project developed by a Belgian investor is the DEEP C Industrial Complex, which has attracted 94 projects with total investment of nearly $5 billion. The complex recorded turnover of $5.9 billion last year, with exports of $2.32 billion, and created nearly 13,500 jobs.

Secretary of the Hai Phong City Party Committee Le Tien Chau said he hopes Ambassador Van den Bossche will continue to act as a bridge to connect, mobilize, and attract enterprises and partners from Belgium as well as the EU to Hai Phong.

Investment should focus on fields such as ports, maritime services, logistics, petrochemicals, renewable energy, wastewater treatment, innovation, startups, and digital transformation, he added.
