The Binh Dinh Provincial People’s Committee has sent a document to the Ministry of Defense on the supplementation and clarification of Phu Cat Airport planning in the 2021-2030 period and vision to 2050.
Under provincial planning in the 2021-2030 period and vision to 2050, the south-central province is maximizing all of its strengths to become one of the leading localities in the central and south-central regions and financially dependent after 2035.
Phu Cat Airport holds a significant position in promoting socio-economic development and ensuring security and defense in the south-central region in general and in Binh Dinh province in particular. However, the airport is currently overloaded, especially during the peak season.
Its current state of deterioration is also a bottleneck for local socio-economic development and security.
The Provincial People’s Committee has said that in planning dossiers for Phu Cat Airport in the 2021-2030 period and vision to 2050, there are four options being studied for the development of a civil aviation area to the south, west, north, and east of the site.
Through the process of studying and selecting the most suitable planning, the Air Defense - Air Force basically agreed with the conversion of the entire land area in the southern part of Phu Cat Airport and military facilities on the land planned for a civil aviation zone.
According to local authorities, the expansion of the civil aviation zone to the south will create many more favorable conditions for the province’s socio-economic development, and other works are also planned, satisfying the objectives of Phu Cat Airport planning.
