The Ministry of Transport (MoT) has instructed authorities in southern Binh Duong and Tay Ninh provinces to study the building of a railway line connecting the two localities.
The 57-km railway will link Bau Bang district in Binh Duong with the Moc Bai international border gate in Tay Ninh.
The Moc Bai Border Gate Economic Zone plays an important role as a gateway for Vietnam’s trade with and transportation of goods and services to Cambodia and the Greater Mekong Subregion, according to the ministry.
The project is therefore expected to create breakthroughs for Tay Ninh to develop sustainably, with industrial parks, urban areas, and logistics corridors.
The construction of the railway line will be added to the provincial master planning and the Southeastern Region’s master planning.
It will also be added to national railway network planning in the 2021-2030 period with a vision to 2050.
