Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Thang has asked contractors working on the Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway section to speed up construction to complete the project by December 31, 2025, to ensure the entire Eastern North-South Expressway is put into operation on schedule.
He visited the construction site on March 6 to examine project progress.
Over 22 per cent of the value of construction contracts has been completed, 6.6 per cent lower than the schedule, according the My Thuan Project Management Board.
Key reasons causing delays are difficulties in site clearance and a shortage of sand for leveling.
The Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway section has a total length of 110 km with four lanes. Total investment is estimated at over VND27.2 trillion ($1.11 billion).
