Construction of the Huu Nghi (Vietnam) - Youyi Guan (China) smart border gate was kicked off by the People’s Government of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on September 15, the Cong Thuong (Industry and Trade) online newspaper has reported.
Permanent Vice Chairman of northern Lang Son province Duong Xuan Huyen attended the ceremony marking the beginning of construction.
The project is part of a framework agreement on promoting the pilot construction of Vietnam - China smart border gates.
Lang Son and the Guangxi Zhuang agreed to build a smart border gate at Huu Nghi - Youyi Guan border gate on a trial basis.
The project will be implemented by the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region based on satellite positioning and 5G technology. It will use automated guided vehicles (AGVs), automated crane equipment, and a smart map checking system. Cross-border logistics information exchange can also be conducted between Vietnam and China, allowing for the automated customs clearance of goods around the clock.
Upon completion, the project is expected to help improve customs clearance.
Authorities from Lang Son province has completed the plan on building the smart border gate on a trial basis and are collecting feedback from relevant ministries and agencies before submitting it to the Prime Minister for approval.
