Da Nang International Airport in the central city of the same name is estimated to serve 13.4 million passengers in 2024, according to Mr. Phan Kieu Hung, the airport’s director.
Of these, international passengers are expected to reach 6.2 million.
The airport’s total revenue is projected at over VND1.61 trillion ($63 million) for the year, equivalent to 104 per cent of the annual target.
A number of major investment projects were conducted at the airport this year to improve capacity and services, including one of over VND200 billion ($7.8 million) to upgrade the internal transport system, infrastructure, equipment, and services, with the aim of upgrading the domestic passenger T1 terminal to a four-star standard by 2025.
Under the plan, in the third quarter of 2025, the airport will begin building a fully-automated cargo terminal along with other supporting facilities with a capacity of handling 100,000 tons of cargo a year on an area of over 2.8 ha, and also expand the T1 terminal to serve 10 million passengers annually. Total investment is estimated at VND300 billion ($11.7 million), and the project will help increase the airport’s total capacity to 14 million passengers a year.
