Central Da Nang city welcomed 7.94 million tourists in 2023, a 98.4 per cent increase year-on-year, according to the city’s Statistics Office.
They included 1.99 million foreign tourists, a 4.2-fold rise compared to 2022.
Tourism and trade were the two sectors seeing the highest growth in 2023. The city’s total retail sale of goods reached VND127 trillion ($5.29 billion), up 16.8 per cent year-on-year.
Revenue from accommodation and catering services rose 33.9 per cent while turnover from travel and other tourism services increased 133.8 per cent.
However, total import and export revenue stood at $3 billion, down 16 per cent year-on-year.
The city’s posted GRDP growth of 2.58 per cent in the year. Its economic scale reached over VND134.2 trillion ($5.59 billion), up VND9.728 trillion ($405 million) compared to 2022.
