Central Da Nang city posted GRDP growth of 3.74 per cent year-on-year in the first half, figures from the city’s Statistics Office show.
The trade and services sector and tourism continued to be bright spots due to their strong recovery and impressive growth, contributing to the city’s economic development, according to the office.
During the six-month period, total revenue of retail sales of products and services reached over VND59.6 trillion ($2.51 billion), a year-on-year increase of 19.4 per cent.
Tourism facilities in the city served a total of 632,900 tourists, a 4.3-fold increase over the same period last year, including 186,000 international visitors.
The agriculture, forestry and fishery sector contributed 2.15 per cent to the city’s GRDP, while the industry and construction sector made up 18.75 per cent and the services sector 69.19 per cent.
In terms of growth, Da Nang ranked third out of Vietnam’s five centrally-run cities and 46th out of its 63 cities and provinces. In terms of GRDP size, it ranked fourth out of the five centrally-run cities and 17th countrywide.
