Deloitte Vietnam and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) in Vietnam officially signed a cooperation agreement on October 18 aimed at supporting ICAEW students as well as Vietnamese students in the fields of finance, auditing, accounting, taxation, and law through joint initiatives and activities.
Situated in one of the world’s fastest-growing emerging economic regions, ASEAN countries are poised to become the world’s fourth-largest economy by 2050. Alongside business development opportunities, demand for both large numbers of quality professionals in the financial industry is now more evident than ever, particularly in the areas of advisory, auditing, accounting, taxation, and law.
The cooperation between Deloitte Vietnam and the ICAEW aims to enhance industry understanding and specialized skills for students in the ICAEW Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business (ICAEW CFAB), as well as those studying finance at universities in Vietnam.
Consequently, alongside jointly organizing seminars, career guidance, and job simulations for ICAEW students, Deloitte Vietnam will provide internships and work experience opportunities throughout their four-year training period, assisting students in applying their theoretical knowledge and cultivating essential professional skills for the future. Notably, students will have the opportunity to visit the headquarters of Deloitte Vietnam and connect with Deloitte’s internship program in various Southeast Asian countries.
The two parties will also jointly organize the National Business Strategy Competition annually to select and support outstanding Vietnamese students to participate in the Southeast Asia and China Business Strategy competitions organized by ICAEW.
Beyond providing special support policies for students in the integrated ICAEW CFAB program at partner universities, ICAEW and Deloitte Vietnam will cooperate to organize various events for faculty members at universities in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
The signing ceremony was attended by Mr. Pham Van Thinh, CEO of Deloitte Vietnam, and Ms. Sharron Gunn, CEO of ICAEW, and witnessed by representatives from the Accounting and Auditing Supervisory Department (AASD) at the Ministry of Finance (MoF), the British Embassy in Vietnam, the British Chamber of Commerce Vietnam, and partner universities implementing the ICAEW CFAB integrated international certificate program.
During the ceremony, Mr. Thinh said human talent is the greatest asset and a significant target in Deloitte Vietnam’s sustainable development strategy. Beyond its own boundaries, it focuses on investing in human development through connections with partners and businesses for industry development and social contributions. “The cooperation between Deloitte Vietnam and the ICAEW will bring valuable experiences to many young people across the country,” he added.
Ms. Gunn, meanwhile, said that one of ICAEW’s strategies is to develop the profession by attracting talent and building diversity, with the aim of creating world-class opportunities for young people pursuing careers in accounting, finance, and business, thereby contributing to building the next generation of chartered accountants and future leaders.
“Deloitte is one of the most important partners of ICAEW - not only in Vietnam but also globally,” she said. “The signing ceremony with Deloitte to support students from partner universities symbolizes the ICAEW’s commitment to continue investing in building a network of chartered accountants in Vietnam as well as a strong relationship with partners in the country.”
