Deputy PM calls for faster construction of North-South Expressway sub-projects

Ánh Tuyết -

Construction is lagging behind schedule in many sub-projects of the expressway.

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha has asked relevant agencies to tackle the difficulties and obstacles and complete site clearance to hand over the remaining 10 per cent of land for investors to build five sub-projects of the North-South Expressway to ensure project progress.

The sub-projects run through central Quang Ngai and south-central Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, and Khanh Hoa provinces.

Deputy Prime Minster Ha recently inspected construction of the Van Phong - Nha Trang section in Khanh Hoa and met with local authorities to discuss progress.

These five sub-projects, part of the second phase of the North-South Expressway during the 2021-2025 period, have a total length of 351.2 km and investment of an estimated VND70.25 trillion ($2.94 billion).

Construction progress currently equals 5.8 per cent of the contract value, or 2.3 per cent lower than scheduled.

The Deputy Prime Minister also asked localities to complete procedures to soon exploit local mines to ensure the sufficient supply of construction materials for the sub-projects.
