Deputy PM proposes Vietnam and Cuba enhance trade cooperation

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha proposed that Vietnam and Cuba continue promoting their close cooperation to create favorable conditions for businesses from the two countries to boost trade and investment cooperation.

He made the suggestion at a meeting with Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz as part of his visit to the Caribbean country for the Group of 77 plus China (G77+China) Summit on September 16.

The Vietnamese Party, State, government, National Assembly, and people are determined to deepen the traditional solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, he said.

Prime Minister Cruz said he would direct ministries and agencies to coordinate more closely with Vietnam to promote bilateral investment and trade relations, particularly in agriculture, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and infrastructure.

He stressed that the two countries are now able to move to a new phase of bilateral economic and trade cooperation.

On the same day, Deputy Minister Ha met with Cuban Minister of Construction Rene Mesa Villafana to discuss measures to improve investment by and the business efficiency of Vietnamese enterprises in Cuba.
