The joint statement issued following the State visit to Cuba from September 25-27 by Party General Secretary and State President To Lam.

Vietnam was highlighted as the second-largest investor in the zone.

This is Mr. Lam’s first visit to Cuba in his capacity as the top leader of the Party and State of Vietnam.  

During the trip between September 21-27, the leader will attend the United Nations Summit of the Future and the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 79), then pay a  working visit to the US and a State visit to Cuba.

Focus on agriculture, biotechnology, and pharmaceuticals as Deputy PM visits Cuba.

Two countries are now able to move to a new phase of their bilateral economic and trade cooperation, Cuban PM said during Deputy PM’s visit.

On September 29, following talks between Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz, who is visiting Vietnam, a series of MoUs on cooperation in agricultural and food development were signed by government members of the two countries.

1.05 million doses of the Abdala vaccine, 900,000 of which are under commercial contract, and medical equipment from Cuba have been shipped to Vietnam as a result of State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s visit to the country on September 18-20.

During State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s official visit to Cuba between September 18 - 20, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and Cuba’s Ministry of Food Industry signed an action plan on the implementation of the Cuban Aquaculture Support Project Phase III. Other documents signed focus on biological products, food safety, and sustainable agricultural production.
