The People’s Committee of Dong Thap Province in the Mekong Delta has issued a plan to implement the Dong Thap Border Gate Economic Zone and the Go Cong Coastal Economic Zone for the period 2026–2030, aiming to expand development space, attract investment, and create new growth poles, according to a report by the VOV online newspaper.
The Dong Thap Border Gate Economic Zone will cover about 31,936ha, spanning seven communes and wards.
The province will adjust the general planning of the Border Gate Economic Zone to 2030, with a vision to 2045; review and revise the planning of functional areas and border gate zones. A key task is upgrading the Moc Ra auxiliary border gate into a main border gate by 2030.
Dong Thap, that borders Cambodia, will also focus on investing in connecting transport routes such as the Dinh Ba–Cao Lanh Expressway, National Highway N1, the Tan Chau–Hong Ngu Bridge, upgrading National Highway 30, and other planned roads. The province will coordinate with Prey Veng Province of Cambodia to invest in road connections through border gate areas.
The Border Gate Economic Zone will prioritize attracting projects in processing industries, green and clean industries, trade–services, and logistics; while mobilizing socialized capital to complete infrastructure.
The Go Cong Coastal Economic Zone will cover about 26,700ha, spanning five communes.
Dong Thap will develop a proposal to establish the Coastal Economic Zone, prepare general planning, subdivision planning, and detailed planning; while investing in transport infrastructure, seaports, and connecting routes.
The province aims to develop seaport services, logistics, study the establishment of a logistics center, and leverage the advantage of large vessels entering the Soai Rap River and coastal areas. At the same time, it will prioritize attracting modern, green, smart coastal urban projects integrated with services and coastal tourism.
