Electricity sector asked to ensure power supply

At a conference involving the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT), the Commission for Management of State Capital at Enterprises (CMSC), Electricity of Vietnam (EVN), PetroVietnam, the Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group (VINACOMIN), and other relevant enterprises on November 24, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien asked the groups to strictly implement six solutions for continual power supply in 2024.

Firstly, firmly carry out the power and coal supply plans for 2024 that MoIT has adopted.

Secondly, strictly implement signed contracts for electricity purchase and sale, for coal and gas supply for electricity production.

Thirdly, proactively and positively implement assigned tasks in order to ensure uninterrupted energy supply in any circumstances.

Fourthly, promptly repair all errors (if any) in power generating facilities and transmission lines to ensure their operations are at full capacity.

Fifthly, intensify inspections and supervision of operations at power plants as well as State management of the energy sector’s activities, especially in coal production, trading, and supply for electricity production, and for electricity saving measures, among others.

Sixthly, produce reliable information for the people and businesses, thus gaining their sympathy with and support for the energy sector’s activities in difficult situations.

Under MoIT’s plan, in 2024 the country’s power generation will produce 50,000 MW of power or 52,000 MW at maximum capacity, which are far from meeting demand.
