The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) has approved a plan on electricity supply for the dry season of 2024.
The peak period is between April and July.
The plan was approved following a proposal from Electricity of Vietnam (EVN).
Total electricity output during the dry season, including power generated by domestic plants and imported electricity, is estimated at 109.183 billion kWh.
EVN is required to review, update, and report to MoIT on the implementation of the plan to ensure electricity for the national grid, particularly for the northern region during the peak periods of the dry season. Different scenarios should be prepared in order to manage and cope with difficulties in power supply and ensure sufficient backup.
It will coordinate with relevant agencies and corporations to regularly update stakeholders on the state of hydropower plant reservoirs, to have plans to effectively operate reservoirs to ensure power supply.
The MoIT also asked EVN to enhance management and direct its units to make preparations to ensure stable electricity production.
