In remarks on the business results of FDI enterprises at a conference between Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and FDI enterprises on October 16, Deputy Minister of Finance Cao Tuan Anh revealed that there were 28,963 FDI enterprises operating in Vietnam in 2022, accounting for 3,27 per cent of the total.
According to figures from the Ministry of Finance, their 2022 after-tax profits stood at nearly VND386.7 trillion (more than $15.8 billion), a decline of 2.1 per cent against 2021. Some 53.83 per cent of FDI enterprises reported losses; higher than the national average of 50 per cent.
Profitable enterprises accounted for 37 per cent of all FDI enterprises in 2021. The rate increased to 38.79 per cent in 2022, which is higher than the national average.
