The first-ever Basa Fish Festival will be held on December 16 and 17 in the Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap.

With the theme “Riding the high seas”, it is expected to attract 300 participants and about 50,000 visitors.

Various exhibition spaces will be arranged, showcasing a wide range of basa fish products and other distinct local items, while a seminar will be held on agricultural extension and a conference reviewing the development of the seafood industry in 2022.

The festival looks to provide an efficient platform for business networking, linking supply and demand to boost sales and helping businesses find partners.

Dong Thap province is home to a basa fish raising area of more than 2,300 ha, with annual output standing at 451,000 tons.

Vietnam’s basa fish industry has continually developed, with annual output of 15 million tons and average export turnover of more than $2 billion.

It has exported basa fish to many markets worldwide, including China, the US, ASEAN, the EU, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, and the UK.
