The first Son La Coffee Festival kicked off on October 20 in Son La city in northern Son La province, with the attendance of National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.

With the theme “Arabica, Son La Coffee - flavors of the northwest mountains and forests”, the festival showcases coffee products from farms, cooperatives, and businesses in Son La.

Son La has the largest Arabica coffee growing area in Vietnam, with nearly 20,000 hectares, accounting for 41.2 per cent of the country’s total coffee growing area.

The festival is aimed at connecting localities in northern midland and mountainous localities in producing, processing, and consuming coffee as well as developing Son La into an agricultural product processing center of the region.

Coffee products from Son La have been exported to 20 countries in the EU, North America, the Middle East, and ASEAN.
