The Nhon Trach 3 LNG-to-power plant in the southern province of Dong Nai is scheduled to enter into commercial operations in the fourth quarter of 2024, according to its investor, the PetroVietnam Power Corporation (PV Power).

The generator and gas turbines have been installed at the plant, which is an important step in ensuring the operation of the plant as scheduled.

The Nhon Trach 3 and the Nhon Trach 4 are together the first LNG-to-power plants in Vietnam.

The project to build the two plants is considered an important national project under National Power Plan VII. PV Power was assigned by the government as investor in the project.

Construction of the $1.4 billion plants, with a total capacity of 1,500 MW, began in 2021.

The engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) package, the projects’ largest, was assigned to a consortium comprising South Korea’s Samsung C&T Corporation and Vietnam’s Lilama.
