Foreign service providers pay $479mln in taxes in 10M

Major providers include Google, Apple and Meta pay taxes in first ten months.

Seventy-four cross-border service providers paid taxes totaling nearly VND11.5 trillion ($479 million) via the portal of the General Department of Taxation for foreign providers in the first ten months of this year, figures from the department show.

Among them were major providers such as Google, Apple, Meta, Netflix, TikTok, and Microsoft.

The amount includes over VND8 trillion ($333 million) in taxes paid in 2023 and the remainder in 2022.

The portal was put in place on March 21, 2022. Vietnam is one of four leading ASEAN countries in operating an electronic portal for foreign providers to declare and pay taxes.

Regarding value added tax (VAT) refunds, as of October 31, tax agencies had issued decisions to refund VAT totaling over VND112.8 trillion ($4.7 billion) to businesses.
