Vietnam recorded forestry export revenue of an estimated $16.9 billion in 2022, a year-on-year increase of 6.1 per cent, figures from the Vietnam Administration of Forestry show.
The total was 3.8 per cent higher than the annual target.
The US, Japan, China, the EU, and the Republic of Korea were the main markets, purchasing $15.48 billion worth of forestry products from Vietnam, or more than 90 per cent of the total.
Wood and wooden product imports, meanwhile, rose 4.1 per cent to $2.82 billion. Vietnam therefore posted a surplus in the forestry sector of $14.1 billion, up 6.5 per cent against 2021.
Some 259,615 hectares of forest was planted around Vietnam in 2022, exceeding the annual plan by 6.4 per cent.
