Vietnam’s total freight transport was estimated at 374.4 million tons in the first two months of 2023, a year-on-year increase of 15.7 per cent, according to the Ministry of Transport.
In February alone, total cargo transported topped 191 million tons, up 27.8 per cent year-on-year.
Aviation led in terms of growth, with 50 per cent, followed by waterways with 43 per cent, road 24.6 per cent, and maritime 17.6 per cent. The volume of goods transported by rail fell 7.5 per cent.
The number of passengers reached 363.6 million in February, rising 23.7 per cent year-on-year. Maritime transport ranked first in terms of growth, with 61 per cent, followed by aviation with nearly 60.7 per cent, railways nearly 59 per cent, waterways 57.5 per cent, and road 20.6 per cent.
