Party General Secretary To Lam emphasized that economic, trade, and investment cooperation has always been a solid pillar and the main driving force behind the relationship between Vietnam and Finland.

“Vietnam remains steadfast in pursuing a high-quality development strategy, with science and technology, digital transformation, innovation, and green economy as key growth drivers,” the Party leader told Finnish businesses during a meeting in Helsinki within the framework of his official visit to the country from October 20-22.

The General Secretary affirmed that over more than half a century of diplomatic relations, cooperation between Vietnam and Finland has continuously grown in a comprehensive and in-depth manner, particularly in the fields of economy, education, science and technology, and innovation.

At the same time, Vietnam continues to improve its investment environment, ensuring the legitimate rights of foreign businesses and creating favorable conditions for investors to confidently expand their long-term operations.

Speaking at the meeting, Finnish Minister of Employment Matias Marttinen affirmed that after more than 50 years of establishing diplomatic relations, economic and trade cooperation between the two countries has continuously developed, with Vietnam becoming Finland's largest trading partner in Southeast Asia.

According to the minister, Finnish businesses are always proud to be active partners accompanying Vietnam in many fields such as clean energy, digitalization, information technology, construction, maritime, and water resource management. He affirmed that Finland considers Vietnam not only a dynamic and fast-developing market but also an important partner in building green, smart, and sustainable growth.

Mr. Marttinen believes that the two countries have great potential for cooperation in building a resilient, green, and digital economy; he also affirmed that Finland is ready to coordinate with Vietnam to expand new areas of cooperation, bringing practical value in economics, environment, and society.

At the meeting, representatives of leading Finnish corporations in the fields of industry, energy, technology, services, and infrastructure shared specific cooperation orientations with Vietnam, demonstrating a desire for shared sustainable development. Businesses believe that despite geographical distance, Vietnam and Finland share many similarities in development vision, green transition orientation, and innovation.

Welcoming Finnish enterprises’ ideas for cooperation in circular economy and green technology, General Secretary Lam stated that Vietnam considers businesses as the center of development and the pioneering force in achieving the goal of becoming a high-income developed country by 2045.

He reaffirmed Vietnam’s commitment to strongly improving the investment climate, promoting flexible and effective policy mechanisms, with innovation as the engine and people as the heart of the development process.
