Google is expanding access to artificial intelligence (AI) in Vietnam through its AI Riser 2026 initiative, encouraging not only professional developers but also students, educators, creators and small businesses to develop practical AI applications.

Google held the “Growing Together with Google AI” forum on October 8 in Ho Chi Minh City, presenting the results of the nationwide initiative, which aims to promote AI-powered solutions to real-world challenges.

Launched in August, AI Riser 2026 attracted more than 10,000 participants both online and in person through a series of 10 networking and hands-on events in Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City.

The program received 750 projects developed using Google AI Studio, with support from 32 expert judges and 12 partner organisations.

A key feature of the initiative is its broad target audience. Rather than focusing exclusively on professional programmers, AI Riser encourages people from diverse backgrounds to turn their ideas into working prototypes.

Using Google’s Gemini models and AI Studio, participants can describe their ideas in natural language and build and test application prototypes, lowering the technical barriers to AI development.

Beyond AI Riser, Google said its partnerships with Vietnamese government agencies, organisations and associations had helped more than 100,000 people access technology training courses, ranging from basic to advanced levels.
