Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh asked relevant ministries and agencies to boost production and trade and deal with the difficulties facing businesses and individuals this month to achieve rapid and sustainable socio-economic development.

Chairing the government’s monthly teleconference with localities on February 2, Prime Minister Chinh said it is necessary to make forecasts, particularly on emerging issues, and draw lessons in management to put forward more effective solutions and set goals in line with the actual situation in order to obtain the best results.

Reports delivered at the meeting show that the macro-economic situation was basically stable in January. The CPI rose 0.52 per cent month-on-month and 4.89 per cent year-on-year.

State budget collections reached 11.3 per cent of the estimate for the year, while newly-registered FDI tripled to $1.2 billion. The trade surplus was estimated at $3.6 billion.

The Ministry of Finance estimated that the disbursement of public investment capital in the past 13 months had reached 92.97 per cent of the Prime Minister’s plan as of January 31.
