According to an official dispatch signed by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on August 28, each Vietnamese citizen will receive VND100,000 ($3.79) as gift on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day – September 2.
This policy aims to stimulate the entire people to enjoy the 80th anniversary of the National Day, resulting from the 1945 August Revolution, which brought independence after nearly a century of colonial and imperial rule. On September 2, 1945, President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence at Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi, proclaiming the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
The Government tasked the Ministry of Finance, the State Bank of Viet Nam, the Ministry of Public Security and People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities shall coordinate closely to immediately review eligible recipients, and deliver gift either via bank transfer or direct distribution, ensuring completion before September 2.
According to the National Statistics Office, as of April 1, 2024, Viet Nam's population reached 101,112,656 people, ranking third in the Southeast Asia and 16th in the world.
