Northern Hai Phong city plans to develop 1.5 million sq m of social housing in the 2021-2025 period, equivalent to 20,794 units, according to local authorities.

The city will increase its social housing by 2 million sq m in the 2026-2030 period, or 28,000 units, under its newly-adjusted housing development program in the 2020-2030 period.

Around 20 per cent of land of industrial parks will be used to build housing for workers during the period. An estimated 40,000 workers in the city need accommodation in the 2021-2025 period.

In March this year, Hai Phong began construction of a social housing project in Ngo Quyen district. Covering 16.91 ha, the project will build ten apartment blocks with a total of 4,456 units.
