Key socio-economic indicators for the northern port city of Hai Phong continued to rise in August, with a year-on-year increase of 15.69 per cent seen in its Index of Industrial Production (IIP), according to the Hai Phong Statistic Office.
The IIP in the first eight months of the year was up 11.55 per cent year-on-year.
Total revenue of retail sales of goods and services reached over VND129.6 trillion ($5.4 billion) during the eight-month period, up 13.51 per cent year-on-year.
The volume of cargo transported via the city’s ports totaled 14.7 million tons, up 10.71 per cent compared to July and 12.95 per cent year-on-year. However, the volume was down 1.25 per cent year-on-year in the first eight months, to 97.46 million tons.
Total revenue from ports was estimated at more than VND4.31 trillion ($179 million), down 1.11 per cent compared to the same period last year.
The city’s CPI in August rose 0.63 per cent month-on-month and 3.16 per cent year-on-year in the first eight months.
