Vietnam’s two largest airports, Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi and Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City, posted sharp increases in the number of international flights and passengers during the recent holidays for the Hung Kings Commemoration Day, National Reunification Day, and International Labor Day.
The two airports welcomed a total of nearly 1.2 million passengers during the five-day holiday from April 29 to May 3.
Noi Bai catered to 2,700 flights and over 422,000 passengers, with international flights and passengers surging 86 per cent and 299 per cent, respectively, against last year.
In Ho Chi Minh City, Tan Son Nhat catered to 4,466 flights with 756,000 passengers, including more than 255,700 international passengers.
The two airports deployed aviation security control enhancement measures at Level 1 (the lowest in the three-level scale) from April 29 through May 3 to ensure absolute security and safety for all flights.
They also carried out different solutions during peak hours, such as applying IT to estimate transport volumes to prepare service personnel and equipment, and increased coordination with airlines, ground service companies, and police to quickly deal with any issues.
Congestion was avoided as a result and passengers and flights were served safely.
