Hanoi has set a target of increasing the proportion of high-tech agriculture to 70 per cent of its total agricultural value by 2030, up from the current 40 per cent, according to the municipal Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
There are 285 models of agricultural production applying high technology in Hanoi at the moment, including 185 in farming, 45 in animal husbandry, 54 in aquaculture, and one combining farming and animal husbandry.
Deputy Director of the department’s Bureau of Crop and Plant Protection Nguyen Van Thuan said that high technology has been widely applied in many areas of agriculture, such as the Internet of Things (IoT), landless farming technology, Blockchain traceability technology, and biofloc technology - a technique for enhancing water quality through the addition of extra carbon to the aquaculture system.
