Hanoi has set a target of all industrial parks and export processing zones in the capital having social housing for workers by 2030, according to the Director of the Hanoi Department of Construction Vo Nguyen Phong.
Speaking at a meeting between city authorities and workers on May 19, Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Tran Sy Thanh said the city will speed up the construction of social housing under the government’s program to build at least a million homes for low-income and industrial park workers by 2030.
The city will have a special policy to help workers on an average salary of VND7 million ($295) a month afford social housing, he said.
Regarding human resources development, Mr. Thanh said the city will develop towards high-technology, so focus will be placed on vocational training establishments to train a high-quality workforce to meet development trends.
