Hanoi welcomed an estimated 27.5 million visitors in the first nine months of 2026, up 6.2% from the same period last year, according to statistical data.

International arrivals reached approximately 6.67 million, up 22%, including around 4.7 million visitors who stayed overnight. Domestic tourists totaled 20.9 million, an increase of 2%.

Total tourism revenue recorded by the capital city in the nine=moth period was estimated at VND113.2 trillion ($4.3 billion), up 13.3% year on year.

Accommodation establishments also recorded strong growth. In the first nine months, they served 6.874 million visitors, up 24.3% from a year earlier. International guests accounted for 4.763 million, rising 25.7%, while domestic guests reached 2.111 million, up 21.2%.

Hanoi’s tourism profile also received international recognition. At the World Travel Awards ceremony for Asia, Oceania and the Indian Ocean, held in Maldives on September 27, the capital was named Asia’s Leading City Break Destination and Vietnam’s Leading City Cultural Destination for 2026.

Notably, this marks the third consecutive year that Hanoi has won the Vietnam’s Leading City Cultural Destination title, following its victories in 2024 and 2025.

According to the World Travel Awards, Hanoi retained the 2026 title after competing against Ha Long, Hoi An, Ninh Binh and Sa Pa. The latest awards add to the capital’s growing international tourism profile as visitor numbers and tourism revenues continue to rise.
