Hanoi welcomed nearly 5.9 million visitors in the first quarter of this year, double the figure in the same period of 2022, according to the municipal Department of Tourism.
More than 978,000 foreign tourists visited Vietnam’s capital in the quarter, a 5.9-fold increase year-on-year.
The city now has 3,756 accommodation facilities with 70,218 rooms in total. Average occupancy at 1 to 5-star hotels was estimated at 56.5 per cent in the period, a year-on-year rise of 37.2 per cent.
Its tourism sector is making efforts to develop travel routes, including those connecting the downtown area with Bat Trang pottery village, and Huong Pagoda in My Duc district with the Tam Chuc - Trang An Landscape Complex in Ha Nam and Ninh Binh provinces. Night tours have also been organized to attract more visitors.
Hanoi has set a target of welcoming 22 million tourists this year and earning VND77 trillion ($3.27 billion) in revenue.
