Vietnam's tourism authorities will focus on policy reform, international market expansion and digital transformation in the second half of 2026 as they work toward the year's target of welcoming 25 million international visitors and generating VND1.125 quadrillion ($43 billion) in tourism revenue.
Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh, Director General of the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, said the strategy is built around three key priorities following the sector's strong performance in the first half of the year.
The first is strengthening the policy framework, including implementing a national strategy to develop tourism into a spearhead economic sector in the new era.
The second is expanding international markets through promotional campaigns in key source markets, activities under the Vietnam–China Tourism Cooperation Year 2026–2027, and participation in major travel exhibitions such as WTM London and ITE 2026. The tourism sector will also deepen cooperation between airlines, travel companies and accommodation providers.
The third is digital transformation and improved governance, with plans to integrate tourism databases with the national population database and upgrade tourism statistics to international standards.
Vietnam welcomed an estimated 1.68 million international visitors in June, bringing the six-month total to 12.3 million, up 14.9% from a year earlier.
