Hanoi's craft villages enjoy positive growth

Hanoi's craft villages of have enjoyed significant growth over the past year with a combined annual average revenue of over VND24 trillion ($943 million), heard a conference held on July 5 to seek ways to promote production and business for craft villages in the capital city.

Currently the city has 1,350 craft villages and villages with crafts, accounting for 56% of the country’s total.

Many craft villages registered an annual revenue of over VND1 trillion ($39.2 million).

The average income of workers at craft villages is estimated at VND4-5.5 million ($157-216) per month.

A representative from the municipal People’s Committee said Hanoi is committed to remove difficulties and obstacles to boost development of craft villages.

The city has recently taken many solutions such as developing six craft villages in connection with tourism and building nine venues to introduce products of craft villages.

 According to reports presented at the conference, the Hanoi Promotion Agency (HPA) will soon collaborate with relevant agencies to organize delegations for overseas trade promotion under the city's support mechanisms and policies. These include the Ambiente Frankfurt 2025 Fair in Germany, a fair in Hong Kong (China), and others.

Conical hats, toy figurines, lacquerware, embroidery, bronze casting, silver carving, and bamboo and rattan weaving are just a few of the many unique and traditional crafts made in and around the capital city.

Some 745 out of 2,711  OCOP products of the city are products of these craft villages and villages with crafts.
