The second phase of Vinh Tuy Bridge, or Vinh Tuy Bridge 2, which spans the Red River and connects Hanoi’s Hai Ba Trung and Long Bien districts, officially opened to traffic on August 30.

Vinh Tuy Bridge 2, which runs parallel to Vinh Tuy Bridge 1, has a total length of 3.5 km, including approach roads.

Total investment is estimated at over VND2.5 trillion ($105 million), sourced from the city’s budget.

Vinh Tuy Bridge 1 and 2 have eight lanes, including four motor car lanes, two bus lanes, and two lanes for smaller vehicles.

Construction began on September 1, 2021.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said the project will help deal with traffic congestion and facilitate travel between the two banks of the Red River, and complete Ring Road No. 2 and connect it with other ring roads in the capital, creating conditions for socio-economic development.

Hanoi now has eight bridges spanning the Red River.
