The People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City has approved a plan to inspect and evaluate 186 old apartment buildings, comprising 223 blocks, across the city.
Most of the buildings on the list were constructed before 1975, with a few built between 1975 and 1994. Among them, 130 buildings will undergo re-inspection, while 56 others are scheduled for initial inspection. Many of those requiring re-inspection were last assessed in 2016 and 2017.
The inspections will determine whether each building needs demolition or can be further used. For buildings deemed safe, the conclusions will specify how long they may remain in use.
The city's Department of Construction is responsible for publicly posting the inspection results on its electronic portal and preparing a comprehensive report on the quality assessment of the old apartment buildings for submission to the City People’s Committee.
