Total retail sales of consumer goods and services in HCM City were estimated at nearly VND460 trillion ($18 billion) in the first five months of 2024, a year-on-year rise of 10.2%, according to the city’s Statistics Office.
Of which, retail sales of consumer goods totaled nearly VND220 trillion ($8.64 billion), surging 9.3% year-on-year. Products recording high growth included household equipment, wood products and construction materials.
In May alone, the revenue of retail sales of consumer goods and services reached over VND93 trillion ($3.65 billion), up 2.1% against April and 4.4% year-on-year.
The Statistics Office also reported that the city has disbursed over VND10.89 trillion ($427 million) of public investment capital during the five-month period, equivalent to 13.7% of the annual target and up 18% against the same period of 2023.
