Ho Chi Minh City has solidified its status as Vietnam's premier startup hub, climbing one place to its highest-ever global ranking of 110th and breaking into Southeast Asia's top five innovative ecosystems for the first time, according to the “Global Startup Ecosystem Index 2025” released by StartupBlink
The globally recognized evaluation tool highlighted the southern metropolis's consistent advancement over four consecutive years. This growth is particularly pronounced in the Fintech sector, with HCMC now also ranking among the global Top 30 for Blockchain and holding the second position in Southeast Asia for this technology.
Recognized as Vietnam's most vibrant and dynamic startup hub, HCMC's progress is attributed to its energetic and creative startup community, strong support from municipal authorities, and an increasingly favourable business environment. The city has made significant strides in developing support infrastructure, positioning itself as a notable destination in Asia.
Mr. Lam Dinh Thang, Director of the city Department of Science and Technology, stated that the city's improved StartupBlink ranking is "a well-deserved recognition of the collective efforts of the political system and innovative startup ecosystem of the southern metropolis."
HCMC aims to break into the Top 100 most dynamic global startup ecosystems by 2030. Mr. Thang elaborated that the city is focusing on three core pillars to achieve this: policy, infrastructure, and human resources. "This year’s rise in the rankings not only reflects HCMC’s continuous efforts to improve its startup environment but also presents an opportunity for the city to reassess and reposition itself within the global startup ecosystem," he added.
To realize these ambitions, the southern hub will consult experts to develop a comprehensive plan for its innovation-driven startup ecosystem for the 2025–2030 period.
