Ho Chi Minh City's economic growth in the new phase will be driven by digital technology and the digital economy. This is one of the crucial contents of documents to be prepared for the upcoming HCM City Party Congress (2025-2030 term).

It is also the main message and theme of the 2024 Digital Transformation Week: "Digital Technology - A New Growth Engine for HCM City," taking place from October 22-23.

The city's Digital Transformation program sets the goal of HCM City becoming one of the country's top five localities in terms of e-government by 2025, with the digital economy accounting for 25% of its GRDP.

By 2030, the city aims to have a fully-developed smart city data infrastructure supporting the development of e-governance, the digital economy, and digital society, with data shared widely throughout society.

Summarizing the city's digital transformation efforts over the past four years, Director of the municipal Department of Information and Communications Lam Dinh Thang reported that the city has successfully implemented innovative thinking and achieved a unified understanding of digital transformation.

According to Mr. Thang, the city has developed digital infrastructure and shared digital platforms on a city-wide scale, ensuring information security, and promoting the development of the digital economy, particularly in key sectors such as e-commerce, transportation, banking and finance, logistics, energy, and tourism.

Director of the HCM City Digital Transformation Center Vo Thi Trung Trinh stated that the city is completing and adding crucial software platforms in accordance with the HCM City e-Government Architecture Framework, creating a shared data repository, thereby saving costs compared to purchasing individual licenses.
